The Soul of Fashion… an exploration of a fashion system in transition: A Parisian Salon 2018. July 15-29, 2018. We invite educators and practicing professionals who work in or with any aspect of the fashion industry to join us for the second Parisian Salon focusing on fashion, sponsored by the Paris American Academy (PAA). The ‘Soul of Fashion’ will provide opportunities to dialog with like-minded peers and professionals, make sense out of the new fashion environment, and take advantage of PAA’s well-honed fashion industry connections as we explore a context for fashion’s future. Meeting the Challenges of US and Indian Fashion Retailing Industries is a synchronous online graduate course (mid-September 2017) focused on cultural differences and similarities in retailing strategies of entrepreneurial small- and medium-size enterprises found in these two countries. It will consist of seven 2-hour sessions and weekend projects for two weeks in September 2017 with main projects due in December 2017. This 3-credit graduate course, developed through funding from the United States-India Educational Foundation, will be jointly taught by 10 expert faculty from Iowa State University, Oklahoma State University, and the University of North Texas alongside 6 expert faculty members from National Institute of Fashion Technology campuses across India. Iowa State University Offers a New Hybrid (distance) Master’s of Science Degree. The Apparel, Merchandising, and Design program at Iowa State University is accepting applications for its first cohort of a new hybrid (distance) Master’s of Science degree program, similar to the format of its hybrid Ph.D. program. Both thesis and non-thesis options are available with a focus on the following areas: Consumer behavior; Design—creative, technical, and functional; History; Learning and teaching; and Merchandising, management, and entrepreneurship. Oklahoma State University Offers New Sustainable Design Short Courses
The Department of Design, Housing, and Merchandising now offers 12 interdisciplinary sustainable design courses that provide various frameworks and research analyses to solve environmental and social issues associated with design and merchandising industry practice.
