Research and Teaching Scholarship Awards

Awards are presented at each ITAA Annual Conference to recognize outstanding research and teaching scholarship submissions that contribute to the body of knowledge across the discipline.  As part of the submission process, submitters should indicate the awards for which they want their presentation proposals to be considered.
 
ATEXINC Award for Innovative Textile Teaching
ATEXINC provides one award that is selected from abstracts submitted to ITAA for presentation at the annual conference that demonstrate innovative approaches to teaching textile-related content. ($400)

Intellect Books Research Award
Intellect Books Research Award recognizes outstanding research on the cultural and social influences affecting fashion and dress.  Awardee receives a year's subscription to Intellect's Fashion Package, a collection of 8 fashion journals.

ESRAP Award for Research
Awarded to the author(s) of the highest ranked full article that makes an innovative and significant contribution to the textiles and apparel literature on Social Responsibility/Sustainability.  Authors of abstracts may request consideration for this award at time of submission.  Authors of the highest ranked abstracts that are accepted for presentation at the ITAA Annual Conference will be invited to submit full length papers.  These full-length papers will undergo a second review by the ESRAP Review Committee. The highest ranked paper is recognized at the ITAA Annual Conference. (certificate)
 
ESRAP Award for Teaching
Awarded to the author(s) of the highest ranked full article that discusses a new/creative strategy, approach, or practice for teaching related to Social Responsibility/Sustainability.   Authors of abstracts may request consideration for this award at time of submission.  Authors of the highest ranked abstracts that are accepted for presentation at the ITAA Annual Conference will be invited to submit full length papers.  These full-length papers will undergo a second review by the ESRAP Review Committee. The highest ranked paper is recognized at the ITAA Annual Conference. (certificate)
 
Paper of Distinction Awards
All accepted abstracts will be considered for a Paper of Distinction award.  Authors will be notified if their abstract has been recommended, and will be asked to submit a full paper by a date TBD. Full papers will then be reviewed for consideration as a paper of distinction. 

 

Blanche Payne Award 

Awarded to an undergraduate student for an accepted creative design or technical design research paper. Second application form required.  $5,000 for use at the undergraduate or graduate level in an accredited design program.
