Rising Star Award
The ITAA “Rising Star” Award is intended to recognize faculty who teach, research (either written or creative), and conduct service in the area of Textiles and Apparel. This award is intended for junior faculty members who are either tenure-track or have not yet reached the fifth year in their academic faculty profession. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching, research/scholarly work, outreach/engagement and service that is commensurate with his/her faculty appointment.
The candidate must be a member of the International Textiles and Apparel Association and should demonstrate an active role in the organization at the junior level. Participation and leadership in ITAA, dedication to the ITAA association, and professional leadership at the campus, community, regional, and national levels should be demonstrated.
Self nominations and nominations from other ITAA members are welcome. In addition, professionals who are not ITAA members (such as department chairs and deans) may nominate candidates.
Once nominated, the candidate will be notified by ITAA of the nomination. If willing to accept the nominations, candidates are required to submit a 2-3 page document describing his/her activities in ITAA and documentation of leadership, professional growth, and accomplishments. In addition a CV and two letters of support (at least one from an ITAA member) must be submitted. In addition, candidates must submit an electronic photograph.
Nominations are due by February 1. The Faculty Fellowships and Awards Committee will make recommendations for Rising Star Recipients to ITAA Council at their spring meeting. Recipients will be notified prior to the Annual Meeting registration deadline and will be publically announced at the ITAA Annual Meeting.
